Pandemic Housing Trends That Will Last

It’s predicted that when the Coronavirus pandemic winds down and comes to a close, three housing trends will last. These trends are as follows: studio sheds, backyard get-aways, and minimal design.

Studio Sheds

In 2020, many went remote, if they were able to. Home offices and appointed ‘zoom rooms’ (rooms free of clutter with a pleasing backdrop) became more important than ever before.

For those looking to step away from the house (even if just a few feet), many turned to studio sheds or backyard offices. These structures (from integrate seamlessly into the backyard with companies offering 3D sketching tools so their client can have a more active role in designing their ideal space.

Backyard Get-Aways

Speaking of outdoor spaces, many people were looking to transform their backyards into the perfect outdoor oasis. Space heaters, tall and squat, were (and still are) in high demand in order to make this happen. No matter the weather, people would be able to stay toasty.

Minimal Design

Last but not least, minimalist design was made very popular by the pandemic. Many homeowners sought to declutter their living spaces in order to make them clearer, cozier, and more cleanly.

Closing Thoughts

With the lifestyle and home changes that 2020 brought, we have to wonder. What do these three trends mean for the housing market? We have some theories.

For buyers who seek more land, they may be more likely to purchase smaller homes if that means they’ll have more room for their backyard dreamscapes. It also stands to reason that those who wish to put up studio sheds will have more room to do so.

On the flip side, for those homebuyers seeking more house and less land, they’ll most likely be looking for places with rooms to convert to Zoom rooms and home offices.
